There are few things scarier than being arrested and charged for a crime you did not commit. However, if you ever find yourself arrested and charged for a crime you actually did commit, but don’t necessarily remember, it may even be worse. It may not be your worst nightmare now, but if it ever were to happen to you, you would likely agree that you were living in your own worst nightmare.
Perhaps this is the case for one man sitting now in Virginia’s Rappahannock Regional Jail who was denied bond. The accused man faces charges of drunk driving and also maiming due to driving while intoxicated. This was all reportedly brought about after the man allegedly hit a pedestrian causing severe damage to the pedestrian’s head and legs. He also was charged with resisting arrest, carrying a concealed weapon while drunk, assault and battery upon an officer of the law, and charges of malicious wounding and finally, obstruction of justice.
Since the man would not cooperate with testing for a DUI, the police were able to obtain a search warrant to test his blood.
If a night of heavy drinking lands you in a world of trouble; if you have been charged with terrible crimes you cannot even recall, you may need the help of a criminal defense attorney more than ever. However, you may be able to benefit most from an attorney who is familiar with local prosecutors, judges and Virginia law, particularly those around drunk driving, vehicular assault and homicide.
